Mary E. Nelson Diversity Scholarship
In September 2005, KWAME established the "Mary E. Nelson Diversity Scholarship" at the University of Missouri's School of Law. The scholarship, named for the firm's former General Counsel was established to lower the financial hurdle for diverse students interested in studying law.
"The fund honors Mary for her many accomplishments," KWAME's President/CEO Tony Thomspon says. "She was the first African-American woman to become partner at a major St. Louis law firm. She has worked for mayors and the speaker of the house, and she has her own law firm. She is an example for other women and minorities."
